Is your Country as Democratic as it says it is?

Democracy means power to the people ans as paradoxical as it may seem even democratic countries need leaders to guide them or else it would be a total chaos. Some people call that chaos 💥Anarchy💥. Here are the main characteristics of a democratic country.

1. In a democratic political system the power given to leaders is limited and under scrutiny.

2. Every citizen has the right to cast a ballot of vote in regular organised elections. Every vote is equal

3. Human, Civil and Unalienable Rights must be protected and depicted in an official document, such as the Constitution.

4. The Judiciary must keeps its neutrality in order to keep both the legislative and executive branch accountable of their actions.

5. The plurality of political parties is indispensable. This same plurality directly relates to the plurality of opinions and political beliefs the people may or may not have so it needs protection.

6. Every citizen regardless of the social status, ethnic background and other is subjected to the rule of law.

If your country checked all of the criteria you're probably in a democratic country!! Don't forget that no matter on what scale (country, region, district, etc...) you can participate in your country's political and social life. Do not hesitate to go to the town hall and see how you can help!!
